The Auburn Tigers have long been a leader in the aquatics arena with eight Men?s NCAA Champions and five Women?s NCAA Champions among many other accolades.? Auburn University?s state-of-the-art James E. Martin Aquatics Center still sets the standard for competitive swimming facilities.? Continuing their commitment to athletics, innovation, and sustainability the university is now in the process of adding a LEED compliant Recreation and Wellness Center.
The?240,000 square foot facility will include the first AquaClimb Sport in the US, a leisure pool, exercise equipment, several ball courts, a corkscrew track, and more. In close proximity to the Student Village Housing and existing intramural fields and tennis courts, the new multiplex provides extensive recreational opportunities for Auburn students, faculty and staff to use in their pursuit of a healthier lifestyle.
The AquaClimb Sport is a natural fit for Auburn?s goals, combining cutting edge engineering with an impressive 19-foot climbing challenge and a design that will not interfere with swimmers during training or in competitions.
Construction of the Auburn University Recreation and Wellness Center is well underway and slated to open in the Spring of 2013.? Once completed, Auburn will confidently boast one of the best campus recreation facilities in the country.
Just what?s in store for Auburn University?? Here?s the feedback we recently received from the North Alberta Institute of Technology.? ?We have had our AquaClimb Sport at the NAIT Pool since December 2011 and the response from our pool users has been fantastic! ?It is a fun, exciting and challenging addition. The Sport has provided our pool users with a unique way to add to their swim workout each day, as well as a fun way to test their climbing skills,? our users have a fun and safe experience.? We have had a great increase in the number of people coming to our pool, specifically to check out and try the new climbing wall!?? Our AquaClimb has been a great addition to our pool and it has been easy to maintain cleanliness as well as operational safety.????????????????????????????? ? We at?AquaClimb certainly can?t wait for the Recreation and Wellness Center project to be completed, so we can get a picture of the Auburn Tiger climbing the new Sport wall. Go Tigers!
