College Football Preview - Week 5 Odds and Predictions

Oregon footballOur first foray into the world of wagering on college football did not go as planned, but there are some incredible week 5 matchups on the schedule that will be able to win us our money back. ?We'll go over the key games coming up on Saturday and see if we can't pick some winners to get our record back on the right side of .500.

Record against the point spread: 2-6?

(17) Clemson -7 at Boston College

The Tigers are a team that looks either great or terrible week-to-week, and this low point spread indicates they are destined to look terrible on Saturday. ?Let everyone else throw their money away on Clemson and go with the Eagles at home.

Louisiana Tech -3 at Virginia

There is a reason why a WAC team is a 3-point road favorite over a BCS Conference squad, and that is because Louisiana Tech should dominate Virginia on the weekend. ?Don't let the conference affiliations fool you. ?This less-heralded squad is for real.

(2) Oregon -30.5 at Washington State

The Ducks are winning with smoke and mirrors lately and they are not as good as advertised. ?That being said, Washington State is terrible and has no defense. ?Oregon puts up 60+ points here and that should be enough.

(15) Texas -2 at Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State will still likely be without star quarterback Wes Lunt, but is backup has looked strong and I think the home-team Cowboys win this game in a shootout.

(25) Baylor at (7) West Virginia -11.5

West Virginia has no business being favored by 11.5 against against a top-end Baylor offense considering the Mountaineers don't play much defense. ?This one will be high-scoring and could go either way.

(14) Ohio State at (20) Michigan State -2.5

The Spartans can't throw the ball, and that will hurt them here against a strong defense. ?They might be at home, but I think they are destined to lose against a squad that is better than them offensively.

Tennessee at (5) Georgia -14

I like Tennessee as a big underdog here and think their passing game will be able to move the ball on the Bulldogs. ?Georgia will score, but so will the Volunteers.

(4) Florida State -17 at South Florida

The Seminoles regularly have letdown games and I think they are in for one here against their in-state rivals. ?South Florida will be fired up and Florida State has major holes on defense that can be exploited.

Wisconsin at (22) Nebraska -12

The Badgers are a poor team but they match up perfectly against Nebraska. ?Wisconsin can stop the run which is what the Cornhuskers need to move the ball, and the Badgers should be able to run against Nebraska's iffy defense. ?
